The new iPad Air has been launched and is the middle child of Apple’s tablet line-up. Yes, it is not as cute as the iPad Mini and not bezel-less and huge like iPad Pro 11 or 12.9, but it stays tight at wherever it stands. The new middle version comes with a 10.5-inch Retina display, A12 Bionic chipset, Touch ID, 3.5mm headphone jack, better camera, and same battery as in all iPads. But, is it a worth buying option among all the iPads? Let’s check it out in the iPad Air 2019 review below:

Review: Apple iPad Air 2019 1

Design and display

The new iPad Air is not looking any different than the last ones. It is not going to surprise or wow anyone. But, this device packs a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Touch ID button too. The device can be attached with a 10.5-inch Apple Smart Keyboard – the same used by the iPad Pro 10.5. It is the thinnest iPad which non-Pro. Only iPad Mini (2019) is lighter than this one. The new iPad Air 2019 comes in three colour variants: Silver, Gold, and Space Gray.

There is a traditional lightning port on the bottom which is just an okay-ish choice. The lack of quad speakers is felt here as we saw in the iPad Pro 10.5 (2017). There are only two speakers at the bottom of the tablet. You can get a great discount on electronic items online using gonoise coupons.

Coming to the display, the device packs a 10.5-inch Retina display with thinner bezels. The screen is fully laminated and you feel no gap between the thinner glass and LCD panel. It makes the big deal when you draw on the screen with the Apple Pencil.

The new Apple Air tablet has thinner bezels, a laminated screen, a wider colour palette, and a True Tone display. The anti-reflective coating is a good add-on and can make you switch over the iPad 9.7.

Performance

Under the hood, the iPad Air 2019 packs the powerful A12 chipset which is found in iPhone XS and XS Max too. It is way faster than the cheaper iPad 9.7 (2018) and is available in 64GB and 256GB internal storage variants. On the multi-core benchmark test, the device scored an 11,575 score. The only tablets leaving this one behind are the iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 12.9. This piece of tech offers better speed, can handle any app and any task and can give you future proof performance. The base variant comes with 64 gigs of memory and top-line one comes with a 256GB version. Sadly, you won’t see any 128GB option.

The iPad Air runs iOS 12 and will soon get to iOS 13 which will really change things up. There is no mouse support or true dock for much easier navigation.

Battery Life

Apple is saying that this piece of their iPad line-up can give the same battery life –  10 hours of web surfing on Wi-Fi, watching videos or listening to music. It can last a day if you are a casual user and it is something that won’t cringe you up. The device can fast charge with the Lightning-to-USB-C cable and plug which is a great add on. Having fast charging support makes it the first iPad having this feature and we all love it. The device can charge from 0 to 100% in two and a half hours.

Camera

The iPad Air 2019 packs a good 12MP front camera but carries the same rear camera as iPad 9.7. The rear camera captures 8MP photos with an f/2.4 aperture. The device takes respectable pictures for a tablet but it cannot stand a chance against your smartphone. It seems too foolish holding a 10-inch device for capturing pictures. You can apply for Android Developer Jobs to know about this field.

Final Verdict

The new iPad Air 2019 doubles the performance of the iPad 9.7 and can keep up to pace with some of the high-end laptops. Yes, it doesn’t get to the iPad Pro levels but the speed at this price makes it a great value. It can be paired with Apple Smart Keyboard cover and is the best alternative for the students who want a 2-in-1 tablet. iPad Pros are too expensive for most of the people and iPad 9.7 too basic. So, this iPad can balance both ends without breaking your pocket and still giving you the best of the productivity. If you are in the new space of tablet buying and don’t want to spend much, iPad 9.7 can work for you. But, if you are willing to spend a bit more, iPad Air is irreplaceable.
