One can rightly say that not too many entrepreneurs or even individuals would overcome the obstacles
that popular jewelry designer, Ashley Marie, have encountered and come out stronger. The world has
continued to celebrate the successes she has achieved as an individual and a major stakeholder in the
world of jewelry and fashion, especially with her brand A.MARIE. However, her achievements would be
more appreciated if only more people knew how hard she worked to overcome the emotional,
physiological, and psychological battles she fought as a child and a young adult.
Jewelry designing found Ashley. At the young age of 8, Ashley began to make jewelry and sell her
designs at family gatherings. “I began making jewelry at the age of 8. Ever since I was little, I just knew I
was different. I liked my alone time, I liked hanging out with adults. Making jewelry was peaceful for me but also my favorite hobby,” said Ashley Marie.
Thanks to the support of her family, Ashley continued to improve on her creativity with jewelry
designing. However, her brilliance did not reflect in her works at school. “I was horrible in math,
exceptional in English, and art. As I got into high school I really struggled. I was captain of the cheer team,
Vice President of the student body, and in the choir. I basically did everything I could possibly do socially but it was also my way of avoiding actual academics,” said Ashley.
At 13, Ashley was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and unknowingly found solace in
jewelry making. Her struggles as a student and individual continued as she started having panic attacks,
blurred vision, and eventually fell into depression. However, all of this changed with the help of her new
University, when she started her education at California Lutheran University. The University had
resources that positively contributed to getting Ashley the help she needed.
Ashley was diagnosed with ADHD and learning “disabilities”. “Once we established what was needed to resolve what was going inside of me, I did a complete 180. NO MORE F’s! I ended up graduating with High Honors, president of Honor Society, and a double major,” Ashley Marie said. Ashley Marie is currently doing well for herself and has successfully established A.MARIE INC., a fashion house with multiple sub-brands, including A.Marie Jewelry, which provides women with fashionable jewelry, Bling Box by AMJ, a jewelry subscription service box – the gift of Self Love, and Ashley Marie, a
lifestyle and personal development brand.
