This is totally me,” says Michelle Obama in the trailer for ‘Becoming: My Story,’ a documentary directed by Nadia Hallgren that hits Netflix on May 6.
Filmed during the tour of presentation of his memoirs, he offers the most intimate portrait of the former First Lady so far, from his childhood, through his youth, his history with Barack Obama (whom he met in the law firm in which they both worked), his years in the White House, and his later life.
In the preview, at the non-casual beat of Alicia Keys’ ‘Girl On Fire’, some of the protagonists of the film appear, such as her brother Craig Robinson, her mother Marian Shields Robinson or, of course, Barack.
We do not see, however, Malia Ann and Sasha, their daughters, and who has always been quite removed from the public life of their parents.
During the presentation of the book, Michelle took the opportunity to meet with all the girls she could and transmit the spirit of struggle and improvement that has always characterized her.
The documentary marks the third collaboration between the Netflix and the Obamas, through their production company Higher Ground after ‘American Factory’, an Oscar-winning documentary directed by Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert; and ‘Crimp Camp’, set in a summer camp for disabled teens in the early 1970s and signed by James Lebrecht and Nicole Newnham.
