Louis Theroux gave a statement saying that he will be visiting Joe Exotic in Prison. He was begging the star of Tiger King saying- “Please Reach Out.”
The 49- year-old star said that he visited the former zoo owner, Joe Exotic while planning for his documentary America’s most dangerous Pets, many years before Netflix started following his footsteps.
When the film was shown last night, he went on answering several questions put forward by fans about the last time he went to see Joe and spent some time with him at GW Zoo in Oklahoma, USA.
When Louis was asked about when he will be visiting the 57-year old spending his time in prison, he said- “Would like to. If Joe is reading, please reach out.”
In a tweet that he shared with his followers, he mentioned that he liked him but also knew that he was spinning him a line. He also said that sometimes, he used to get a feeling that Joe was not exactly across his brief, in the context of a conversation.
It was like he could just not recall his own hype. He said that Joe might have started with some good intentions but unfortunately, he lost his way.
When asked about Joe’s arch-rival Baskin not being featured in the show, he said – “Worth saying: Joe was obsessed with C Baskin even then and used to tape a video about her every Weds. Probably should have put her in the program but we never filmed with her or met her.”
A funny incident happened, though. An over- curious fan asked him what Joe smelt like. To this, he made a joke that he referred to the baboon trying to groom him the doc-series. He, later on, tweeted – “Smelled a bit like Tatiana. Joke! He smelled fine.”
America’s Most Dangerous Pets, the documentary by BBC, saw Louis visiting the US to meet those in person who owned tigers, big cats, bears, and dangerous primates.
This year, Netflix released a doc-series, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness with a total of 8 episodes that concentrated on Joe and his rivalry with Carole Baskin and what it resulted in.
