Although they are not as dark as what we have been able to see from ‘The Green Knight’ , the new film by David Lowery, the first images that Netflix has shared of their new period series, ‘Cursed’ , are quite impressive, and surely.
They will delight all fans of Katherine Lang ford , eternal protagonist of ‘For 13 reasons’ and who is also at the forefront of the cast of this new series.
All of this sounds charming and inspiring, and the images look amazing, no doubt. But I have a big concern about the show, and it’s called Frank Miller.Man has undoubtedly given us influential and unique comic works of art, including The Dark Knight Returns and Sin City.
But he’s also shown his butt lately as a troublesome right-wing figure who promotes jingoistic and even fascist narratives in his work (i.e. the miserable Holy Terror in which a hero highlights and destroys Islamic terrorists).
The show is based on an illustrated book about the Lady of the Lake from the legend of King Arthur and will be told through the eyes of Nimue, a young woman with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady from the lake.
After his mother’s death, he finds an unexpected companion in Arthur, a humble mercenary who is looking for Merlin to deliver an ancient sword to him.
Over the course of his journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins and their accomplice, King Uther.
The series is created by Frank Miller (‘Sin City’) and writer Tom Wheeler (‘Puss in Boots’), consists of 10 episodes and will launch on the streaming platform this summer.
Take a look at some of the first-look images below, including Katherine as Nimue emerging from a body of water and grabbing her sword in ready position.
We also take a look at Daniel’s character, currently known simply as the weeping monk: will he end up being a good boy or a bad boy?
