Julia Roberts starred in a critically acclaimed first season of Homecoming, the new series from the creator of Mr. Robot, Sam Esmail.
However, this time she has decided to act only as an executive producer and give the main role to Janelle Monáe, as evidenced by the first trailer for the second season.
In the preview, which you can see above these lines, we see the character of Monáe waking up in a boat in the middle of a lake without remembering anything, neither his name nor who he is.
To find yourself, everything will take you to the heart of the Geist Group, a somewhat unconventional wellness company behind the Homecoming project.
Stephan James returns to give life to Walter Cruz, who tries to have a new life after his traumas of war and the Homecoming project until he realizes that there is an even more disturbing program on the way.
The second season of Homecoming will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 22 with the main cast consisting of Joan Cusack ( Klaus ), Hong Chau ( Watchmen ), Bobby Cannavale ( Mr. Robot ), Shea Whigham ( Joker ) and Mary Holland ( Veep ), among others.
After the first season, it was announced that Julia Roberts would not be reprising her role in the upcoming season of Homecoming.
Roberts’s portrayal of the series’ protagonist, social worker Heidi Bergman, marked her first regular part in a television series, but the actress only had a one-year contract to star in the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actress, however, will remain on board as an executive producer.
Instead, we will see Janelle Monáe in the lead role. The American singer-songwriter and actress has previously appeared in movies like Moonlight and Hidden Figures.
Two important new characters join the cast of the second season: Oscar winner Chris Cooper as Leonard Geist, the company’s eccentric founder; and Emmy winner Joan Cusack as Francine Bunda, an equally eccentric military woman.
