In a statement made to The Times, Mike Hopkins, the present chairman of Sony Pictures Television said, “Seinfeld’ is a one-of-a-kind, iconic, culture-defining show. Now, 30 years after its premiere, ‘Seinfeld’ remains center stage. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Netflix to bring this beloved series to current fans and new audiences around the globe.”

Good News for Netflix after Losing Friends & The Office

Recently, Netflix lost the streaming rights of two of its most popular comedy shows Friends & The Office. The online streaming platform lost the shows from media conglomerates.

So, in the near future, The Office will be part of the new streaming service of NBC Universal whereas Friends will be offered by Warner Bros. forthcoming HBO Max Platform.

However, as of now, there are not many details regarding the deal & transaction that took place. However, as per rumors, Netflix offered way more money than $500 million paid by NBCUniversal for the office & $425 Million paid by Warner Media for Friends. However, the recent deal between the two shows is exclusive to the US only.

Where can I Stream Seinfeld?

As I already told you, Netflix will be telecasting the tv show from 2021.

However, if you want to watch the stream now, then how is it possible? Well, as of now, Hulu (majority-owned by Walt Disney Co.) has the streaming rights to Seinfeld TV show in the USA.

The six-year deal between Sony & Hulu costing around $130 million will expire by 2021. So, if you are living in the US, then you can stream one of the best comedy shows on HULU.

However, as far as foreign streaming rights of the show are concerned, Amazon has the streaming rights of the above-mentioned comedy tv show. The deal will expire in 2021 & after that, the show will be picked by Netflix.

Seinfeld Bidding Process

The bidding process for 5 deal from 2021-26, went on between WarnerMedia, NBCUniversal, Viacom, Amazon, Hulu. In this process, Netflix defeated all these streaming services to get the digital rights of the show. Later, in a statement, the chief content officer of Netflix, Ted Sarandos said that” Seinfeld is the television comedy that all television comedy is measured against. It is as fresh and funny as ever and will be available to the world in 4K for the first time.”
