Quentin Tarantino has abandoned the project for which he was going to direct a movie about Star Trek, one of his great passions.
That Quentin Tarantino’s cinema is very different from what the science fiction series Star Trek is more than evident, but one of the many surprising things about the director is that he is a huge fan of it, that’s why when it was announced Back in 2017 that he was going to direct a Star Trek movie didn’t seem like such a far-fetched idea.
However, as reported by Deadline, Tarantino has decided to abandon the project and will no longer direct any next Star Trek film, although that does not mean that the film remains undone, as Paramount continues to maintain the idea of the director, a film based on an episode of the series in which the characters are in a kind of ’30s on Earth. The publication does not give more details about the possible reasons for the abandonment of the director, or when it occurred.
Although, perhaps, one of the reasons is that Tarantino has always said that he would retire with his tenth film and may not like the idea that it was one about a franchise that, as much as he likes it, takes away some of the personality from the movie. The project is not completely original on his part, since, if we take into account the director’s filmography, his latest film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, is already his ninth feature film, so he only has one project left to keep your retirement promise.
On the other hand, Paramount continues with its idea of squeezing more the Star Trek franchise in the cinema with a film written by Noah Hawley ( Fargo ) that would start the franchise from scratch and another film that would once again have the cast led by Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.
