Without a doubt, 2019 was an intense year for Marvel fans. On April 25 he reached theaters Avengers: Endgame, the climax of the first three phases of the Universe Film Marvel. In this film, we say goodbye to some of the real Avengers, such as Black Widow, Captain America, or Iron Man. The latter was fired with honors, closing his story with a funeral in which almost no character from the MCU was missing and gave him the perfect closure to Robert Downey Jr.
But fans don’t give up hope of seeing him again somehow in some future movie or series. However, Robert Downey Jr. has been blunt on the SmartLess podcast. On the Will Arnett Show, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes asked him how he balanced family life with his work at Marvel and he just said, “It’s all over.“
It was something to be expected, and it is apparently the best decision for a character who has had such a long journey and such a special farewell. But never say never. The greatest possibility of a comeback is in the Disney + animated series ‘Marvel’s What If?’ in which we will be shown alternative facts of events in the MCU and that has confirmed a large part of the cast of Marvel films to give voice to their characters, but we do not know anything about Robert Downey Jr. yet. The series will premiere next year.
The actor at the moment has a fairly empty agenda. Ahead only has the premiere of ‘All-Star Weekend’, directed by Jamie Foxx, and at some point should be with ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’. Our next appointment with the MCU is ‘Black Widow’, which opens on October 30 and of which there were rumors of a cameo by Tony Stark.
