Bollywood is back to ‘plotting a murder’ mood with its latest streaming story Mrs. Serial Killer. This is the second project from International Star Jacqueline Fernandez who previously starred in Fast and Furious rip-off Drive.
What is the Story about?
The story is about Sona, a pregnant lady whose husband (Joy) is arrested for killing 6 girls who were found in an isolated house owned by him. She thinks that her ex-boyfriend (the inspector) had some other motives and framed her husband.
She decides to take illegal ways to prove his innocence only to find out later that Joy, in fact, was the killer. She, along with some others, gets trapped by her husband and somehow they all manage to escape. But so does Joy. He escapes from the hospital and is given shelter by Mr. Rastogi, a famous lawyer.
Similarity with other Movies/ Series
The Movie might remind you of some other movies. So if you are watching it and can relate it to Serial Mom or anything else, worry not, you will not be the only one.
Performance of Star Cast
It seems like Bajpayee is the only member of the cast who was capable of executing his role with a certain degree of conviction. This is what we mostly look for in a good performance.
The highlighting dialogue of the movie was when Mrityumjoy, at last, tells Sona that he does not like his nickname. The dialogue was: – “JOY, JOY, JOY! I’m NOT A F_ING ICE CREAM!”
Nudity: – None
Stream it or skip it? Our Take: –
SKIP IT. In the movie, there was a part where there was a line- “ I was letting you go when you had to act smart and try to escape” and Fernandez delivered it with such bewilderment that it was hard to tell whether it was a comedy or not.
It also showed the inability of the director to maintain a congruity in tone. Talking about visuals, the movie was extremely colorful and some scenes even contained decapitated female bodies and fetuses.
It certainly is artistic. If the movie were in the right hands, it could have been subversive. But Mrs. Serial Killer is over-the-top and inept filmmaking along with canted angles and over-styled set pieces.
Moreover, the screenplay is all packed with crazy twists which were intended to surprise viewers but actually they’re visible as doubtful moments. There was all the required content, but just not mixed up well.
