Admiral John Arbuthnot Fisher wrote to Winston Churchill in 1917, using 'OMG' as an abbreviation for 'Oh My God.' The letter is now in the Churchill Archives Centre. This shows that what we consider modern internet slang sometimes has surprisingly old origins.
